Overview

I worked with the Actian UX team to design data table component and build interaction states foundation within the design system to optimize the overall user experience of Actian Data Platform.

Projected to improve the efficiency of 42M users by 86% after launch, supporting long-term business scalability and adaptability.

Tested with 30 stakeholders and customers. 77% found the data tables and interaction patterns I designed easier to navigate.

Heuristic analysis of existing data tables

After evaluating Actian Data Platform, we discovered two core issues: inconsistency and accessibility. Variations in data representation and interaction behavior led to a lapse in accessibility standards.

Iterating on design solutions

I explored solutions through prototyping, usability testing, discussions with designers and researchers.

Ensuring accessibility

We tested all explorations of interactive states to guarantee they met AA text accessibility standards.

Standardizing data tables to hold the platform together

I created a reusable template for consistent data organization that efficiently handles large datasets while meeting industry standards all without requiring additional user learning.

To help with the transition from design to development, I documented the interaction foundation and data table components and handed-off for implementation into the system.

Acquisition to adoption

After Actian’s acquisition of Zeenea, my design work was put on hold. However, the detailed usage guidelines I created helped the integrated team save an estimated one quarter of development time.
